I was happy to travel at one of the most “convenient”, small, yet beautiful, villages of the Alps. Situated just 10 minutes away from the French borders, Courmayeur is a great choice for those who wish to breathe the air of Mont Blanc while enjoying the Italian cuisine and hospitality of the Aosta Valley.
During the week we spent there, we went skiing in 5 different ski resorts located in 3 different countries, i.e. Italy, France, and Switzerland. One day we decided to take a break off the slopes, so we went on a trip to France passing through the highway Mont Blanc tunnel. From Chamonix, we got on the train of the Montenvers and had the chance to walk on the path leading to Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice) on the northern slopes of the Mont Blanc massif.
Courmayeur is also very popular and gets very crowded during the St.Panteleimon celebration (27th of July) when a 3-day festival takes place at the foot of these beautiful mountains!
